
Gabungan Koperasi Batik Indonesia (GKBI) or the Federation of Indonesian Batik Co-operatives was incorporated on September 18th,1948 in Yogyakarta. The main objective was to unite all batik co-operatives and to improve the welfare of co-operatives' members.GKBI is owned by 40 primary batik co-operatives which are located nationwide in Indonesia, consisting of 8,000 batik entrepreneurs.Since established, for more than 57 years now, GKBI is the only co-operatives whose main activities is still in textile industries.
